Autumn is also known, and probably more appropriately so, as Fall. And so if you’re going to participate in Fall, why not maximise the effect of your actions and, say, try blocking a roadway. And so it was. On Sunday, we arrived to find a small tree doing a lay down. The blockade would only be temporary. No time for a polite “would you please consider to move on, if its not too much trouble”? Maurice read the fallen tree it’s last rites and with the aid of his trusty chainsaw quickly reduced it to pieces ready for conversion into a gaseous form of carbon. With the driveway cleared, it was on with the show!
The weather wasn’t particularly attractive for outdoor activities, so inside it was. Today we had visitors, John ZL3AQT and Rob ZL1ACK. Rob ZL4ROB heard there was POTA activity on, and had a hunt around but perhaps the weather had put participants off, as he didn’t have much luck. While a few of us were discussing programming hand held radios, the call came through that the 5775 repeater was again being held open by a continuous carrier. This time, more hams were available to DF the source. The interfering signal was not detected from the West deck at MP as it was on the previous occasion [ it was too rough outside to try from the tower roof ], even though other reporters put the source to the West. The interference didn’t last as long as last time; maybe around 30 minutes this time. So we have substantially narrowed down the location to “likely somewhere within the greater Auckland area”. Feeling rather pleased with our progress, we adjourned for [another] coffee!
