Prior to todays meeting, we trialed the new rigging for the portable antenna pole. A much improved arrangement saw the pole set up in a few minutes. Martin made a quick contact on 40 using his K2, but all too soon we had to retire to the clubrooms for the monthly meeting. After the meeting proper, Ian ZL2HUT gave an interesting glimpse into the GEC VHF linking radio equipment from the late 1950’s. After which, owing to a large turnout in a small meeting room on a hot day, the meeting was one of the shorter ones in living memory, and people dispersed to various projects. Martin demoed his now operational BC611 – the origional Handie Talkie; 80m portable in a handheld – whatever will they think of next?
