Dave ZL1DL arrived at the clubrooms today to find a fire appliance parked up by the driveway chain. On hearing voices from the region of the access path to the rocks, he decided to investigate. Before getting too far down the path, he was met by a firefighter coming back up the path. Turns out they were just on an exercise. We stopped for a chat about the building, but after a couple of minutes, they received a callout and drove away, lights flashing. Graham Zl1TOF arrived and soon after we have a visitor – Cliff ZS1FC. Cliff deserves a WAB (worked all busses) award, as he use the public transport system to travel from Orewa to MP. Photo shows Martin operating on the 80m AM net with Cliff on the right, and Graham in the centre. After the 80m Net, Martyn and Graham fired up the T-98 on 40m AM and tried out the new sequencer, which appeared to a great improvement. Maurice ZL1MPU arrived after a return trip across town and Luke ZL1LMB turned up under scooter power. Dave installed the Ethernet to RS-232 converter to the 5775 repeater to provide remote control over the internet and adjusted the mute level on the repeater to remove the “rush” noise on ptt release. Although 10m was fairly quiet, Luke gave it a go and made some contacts into Texas. Another enjoyable day at the point!
